If the grace period expires before all fingers are lifted:. the entire gesture is performed within the grace period (300ms). all fingers are released after the gesture is performed. the distance moved is far enough (outside the "slop region") to determine that the movement was deliberate. the user places one or more fingers on the screen and moves them all in one of the cardinal directions. The user can perform swipe gestures in one of the four cardinal directions which are then interpreted and used to control the UI.
